Local Moving - Under 150 Miles

Charges for local moves are normally based on an hourly rate. The hourly rate will depend on the size of truck required, number of crew needed to service your move, and the time of year you are moving.

Be sure to let your Atlas mover agent know if you are moving appliances and bulky items such as a piano, hot tub or boat. If you live in an apartment or condo, be sure to book the elevator as far in advance as possible as there may be other people moving in and moving out that day.

Each piece of furniture will be wrapped in clean quilted moving blankets and your home will be protected with floor runners and padding on bannisters and railings.

Professional packing service is also available on local moves. If you are doing some or all of the packing yourself, your Atlas mover agent can provide you with cartons specially designed for moving at an additional cost.

Gently used packing cartons are also available at a reduced cost.

Long Distance Moving - Over 150 Miles

The cost of your long distance move will be based on the weight of your shipment and the distance from origin to destination. An accurate estimate is key to budgeting for your long distance move.

Your Atlas moving consultant will meet with you in your home to do a comprehensive item-by-item survey of exactly what needs to be moved. If it is not possible for them to see items stored at another location, be sure to provide a detailed list of these additional goods.

The Atlas moving consultant will explain each step of the moving process, including protection plan options for your possessions while they are in transit or in storage. Service options and a schedule for packing, loading and delivery will be established for your move.

A pricing proposal for your long distance move will be prepared by your Atlas moving consultant. The estimate will include the cost for all requested moving services such as transportation, packing, storage and replacement value protection for your shipment.

The actual moving charges for a long distance move will be calculated once the truck is weighed, after your shipment is loaded. The pre-load weight is deducted from the post-load weight to determine the actual weight of your shipment. The actual weight is used to calculate your transportation charges.

Most moving consultants will provide a guarantee that their estimated weight will not exceed 10% provided there are no additional items added to your shipment after the in-home survey was performed.

Each piece of furniture will be wrapped in clean quilted moving blankets and your home will be protected with floor runners and padding on bannisters and railings.

Payment Options

Atlas Van Lines (Canada) Ltd. offers three payment options on long distance moves:

Cash on Delivery:
The Van Operator is required to collect payment for your move before your shipment is unloaded. "Cash on Delivery" payments must be made by cash, bank draft, certified cheque or money order.
Credit Card:
Atlas accepts VISA, MasterCard and American Express. Arrangements for this must be made in advance of moving day through your Atlas agent at origin so that they have time to obtain the approval from the credit card company.
Corporate Invoicing:
If your employer is paying for your move, Atlas will be happy to invoice the company for our services. A purchase order or letter of authority must be submitted to your Atlas agent at origin. Granting of credit is subject to the normal credit checks and approval process.
